Trump reportedly told Netanyahu 'all the Jews are sick of you'
Donald Trump reportedly told Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, that “all the Jews are sick of you”.
The US president’s outburst occurred during a call with Jared Kushner, his son-in-law and the US peace envoy, Steve Witkoff, his Middle East envoy, and Mr Netanyahu, according to a new book by two journalists from The New York Times.
The group was reportedly discussing the 20-point Gaza peace plan, announced by Mr Trump in September 2025 after nearly two years of intense fighting between Israel and Hamas.
The fiery exchange is detailed in the new book Regime Change, which was released on Tuesday.
Mr Kushner had apparently become increasingly frustrated with Israel after it launched an air strike against Hamas targets in Qatar’s capital, Doha.
The attack also killed a member of the Qatari security forces and was widely condemned internationally.
“I’m f---ing out. The Israelis are crazy,” Mr Kushner reportedly told an associate, before realising that the moment could be used as leverage to bring Israel into line and stop the war in Gaza.
Mr Kushner drafted the peace plan, which he then discussed with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar’s prime minister, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York in September 2025. Mr Trump then pitched it to Mr Netanyahu.
“Everybody’s sick of you, Bibi. All the Jews are sick of you. Even the two Jews on this call are sick of you,” Mr Trump reportedly told him, an apparent reference to Mr Kushner and Mr Witkoff, who are both Jewish and were also on the call.
“You can’t back out of this. I’m the best friend Israel ever had. Everybody hates you, and I’ve stood by you,” he allegedly added during the heated call. “This is a great deal for Israel.”
Two days after the call, on Sept 29, 2025, Mr Trump and Mr Netanyahu announced the peace plan together during a press conference at the White House. It was endorsed by the UN Security Council in November.
The conversation between Mr Trump and Mr Netanyahu is just one of the heated exchanges recounted in the book Regime Change, written by New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan.
The book has caused a stir in US politics for its intimate account of Mr Trump’s second term so far.
It includes details of sensitive discussions among senior Trump administration officials as they have navigated the fallout from the Epstein files and the war in Iran.
Excerpts of the book reported in the newspaper in recent months have led some officials to reportedly raise concerns that recordings of conversations within the White House’s Situation Room may have been leaked.
In the days before the US launched strikes on Iran in February, Mr Trump spoke with Mr Netanyahu again, this time in the Situation Room, the book stated.
Mr Netanyahu reportedly told Mr Trump that Iran was ripe for regime change. In a later Situation Room meeting, Marco Rubio, the US secretary of state, apparently said that Mr Netanyahu’s assessment was “bulls---”.
Axios reported recently that Mr Trump was “furious about the blow-by-blow accounts”.
