Prabowo marks TNI AU anniversary with in-flight tribute to pilots
President Prabowo Subianto marked the 80th anniversary of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) on Thursday (April 9) by praising fighter jet pilots while flying aboard the presidential aircraft, Indonesia One.
“On behalf of the entire nation, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, am proud of our air force. We are all proud of our ‘young eagles,’” he said via radio communication to the pilots escorting his aircraft, as reported by the TNI AU’s official YouTube channel
He expressed appreciation to all TNI AU personnel for their dedication to safeguarding Indonesia’s airspace, highlighting their vital role in protecting the country and its people.
The president also extended his anniversary greetings and voiced hope that the air force would grow stronger and achieve greater success.
“Happy 80th anniversary to the Indonesian Air Force. I hope TNI AU will remain strong and capable of safeguarding our airspace,” he said.
Earlier, one of the escort pilots expressed gratitude to the president for his continued commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s air defense posture since his tenure as defense minister in 2019.
“Thank you for your continuous support and attention, from your time as defense minister in 2019 to your current role as president, in strengthening and modernizing the Indonesian Air Force,” the pilot said over the radio.
The wingman also asked for the president’s prayers and assured him that all Indonesian fighter pilots share the same determination to serve the nation with full dedication.
In response, the president emphasized that the Indonesian people have great pride in and high expectations of their airmen.
“The Indonesian people are proud of you. Please protect our homeland. I salute you all. Keep up the good work. Thank you,” he concluded.
