Man City target explosive double Newcastle raid as Guardiola demands biggest squad yet

Manchester City hold interest in Tino Livramento alongside his Newcastle United teammate Bruno Guimaraes, it has been revealed – though the once-capped England international is not the only right-back Pep Guardiola is chasing with two other options on the table.

Man City had a massive January transfer window, spending around £180million to bring in Omar Marmoush, Vitor Reis, Nico Gonzalez and Abdukodir Khusanov. There will be yet more major changes in the summer as Pep Guardiola has a host of ageing players who need replacing.

Kyle Walker has joined AC Milan on a loan deal which is expected to become permanent this summer. According to The Telegraph, City are ramping up their search for Walker’s replacement.

The report states that Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso remains a concrete target after City decided against moving for him in January due to the costs involved.

But Cambiaso is not the only right-back City are looking at, as they are ‘monitoring’ Livramento’s exciting performances at Newcastle, too.

The Citizens also admire Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain, viewing him as one of the best full-backs around, though he will be particularly hard to sign after he penned a new contract in the French capital recently.

Cambiaso and Livramento are viewed as easier targets to capture, even if Newcastle do not want to lose the latter.

City’s interest in Livramento sets up a thrilling potential double raid on Eddie Howe’s side.

Guardiola and City remain hopeful of adding Guimaraes to their midfield ranks. TEAMtalk transfer insider Ben Jacobs recently revealed that Guimaraes has a verbal pact with Newcastle which will allow him to leave for £85million (€102m / $108m) this summer.

Man City want new right-back and midfielder

The Telegraph report adds that City will strongly pursue a new No 8 in midfield alongside a right-back. Guimaraes is a prime contender, as long as City are willing to spend big money to land him.

Guardiola is understood to have asked the City hierarchy for the biggest squad he has ever had while in England as he wants to compete for all major honours once again.

When asked about the need for a larger squad, Guardiola told a press conference: “You have to think about who can play every three days for a month. Especially the guys who remain here and the guys who come, how is their history in terms of injures.

“That’s the most important thing otherwise it can happen the same as this season. You have to try to avoid it.

“The club has to sign players but at the same time the club has to keep the players we have as much as possible. Because with the World Cup then immediately the season, it will be even tougher next season, we need a little bit bigger squad year.”

Man City transfers: De Bruyne truth; winger claim

Kevin De Bruyne is among the senior City players who have been tipped to move on this summer.

But TEAMtalk understands San Diego have made no progress in talks with De Bruyne recently, despite reports suggesting a deal is ‘close’.

Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku could fall down the pecking order at City this summer as the club has been linked with a new left winger.

Reports in the Spanish press claim Guardiola has ordered City to ‘pay whatever fee they have to’ in their chase for Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens.

Saudi Arabia prepares record £200m transfer bid to prise Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid

Vinicius Junior will be given the opportunity to become the world’s most expensive player this summer, with the Real Madrid forward to make the final decision on a £200 million move to Saudi Arabia.

The Brazil international, 24, is a concrete target for the Saudi Pro League with early talks taking place over a move during the next window, when his contract at the Santiago Bernabéu will be in its final two years.

He will be offered a chance to move to one of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) clubs in Saudi Arabia, with his team to be decided if a deal can be agreed. According to sources, he will command a fee that matches the £200 million that Paris St-Germain paid Barcelona for Neymar in 2017. The package for a potential deal means it could be the most lucrative in football history.

While Real Madrid do not want to lose Vinicius, who has helped them win three La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues, having less than 24 months left on his deal means his market value will start to decrease from next season onwards if he stays in Spain. The Saudi deal is expected to go through if the player gives the move the green light.

Vinicius has endured horrendous racist abuse during his seven years in Spain since moving from Flamengo in his homeland, with the forward breaking down in tears when talking about his treatment from fans.

“I just want to play football but it’s hard to move forward… I feel less and less like playing. It never crossed my mind [to leave Spain] because if I leave Spain I give the racists exactly what they want,” he said last year.

While the Saudi destination for Vinicius is yet to be decided, Al-Hilal would make sense as a potential club. King Saud bin Abdulaziz renamed the club in 1958 and they are the most decorated team in the SPL. Al-Hilal have also qualified for the Club World Cup in America this summer, where they will face Real in the group stages.

Saudi power will be proved if they land Vinicius and Salah

It has been relatively quiet in the Saudi Pro League transfer market compared to the early days of the competition, but there was a late January move for Jhon Duran and the spending is ready to restart this summer.

Sources in the Middle East had expected SPL spending to ease off after the initial splurge on players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar. And despite failed bids last year for Kylian Mbappe and Mohamed Salah, this was always going to be the calm before the storm in 2025 when big names are available.

As reported by Telegraph Sport last season, SPL teams were keeping a close eye on Kevin De Bruyne and Salah, whose contracts are running down at their clubs. It remains to be seen if they will be available on Bosman free transfers, but there is no doubt that Saudi clubs are back in the market for the big names.

In Saudi, they have the 2034 World Cup to prepare for and getting the biggest names to the SPL is part of the plan. Landing Vinicius Junior would be a huge coup and would only enhance the reputation of the competition.

It would also be a huge blow for Real Madrid to lose a player who has lit up European football since arriving from Brazil. At 24, he is in his prime and his stage should be the Champions League – but the staggering wages on offer in Saudi mean his future is in doubt.

Endrick will be ready to step into his shoes eventually, but the power of the SPL will be felt by all if Vinicius Junior moves this summer.

Indonesia's Papua Highlands to adapt free meal program to local needs

The Papua Highlands government has reaffirmed its readiness to successfully implement the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, which will be tailored to local conditions.

Despite opposition from local students, Acting Governor Velix V. Wanggai stated on Sunday that the program would proceed with adjustments to regional conditions.

"In principle, we are always ready to implement national strategic programs, including the MBG, where readiness is adapted to the context of the Papua Highlands," he said.

Earlier, hundreds of students in Yahukimo, Papua Highlands, protested against the government's MBG program, arguing that they needed free education more than free meals.

Wanggai emphasized that Papua is part of Indonesia and that all 38 provinces must adhere to national strategic agendas.

He explained that adapting the MBG program in the Papua Highlands involves aligning it with local dietary needs.

"The goal is to ensure that the local economy continues to grow while improving the well-being of the people in the Papua Highlands,” he remarked.

The provincial government will also involve key strategic social institutions in the Papua Highlands, including churches, dioceses, and foundation-run organizations that manage schools at all education levels, from early childhood to primary and secondary schools.

The initiative will also involve youth in community kitchens and certified nutrition professionals accredited by the National Nutrition Agency.

Wanggai noted that the Tolikara and Lanny Jaya districts had already implemented a healthy school breakfast program called Sarasehan. The provincial government intends to adopt a similar model to ensure the success of MBG.

Prabowo to launch Danantara sovereign wealth fund on Feb 25

President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to launch Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund, Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara)

This was confirmed by the Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Yusuf Permana on Sunday.

The president is set to announce and inaugurate the establishment of Danantara on the agenda.

"The president will launch Danantara at the Presidential Palace on Monday at 10.00 local time," Permana informed.

According to him, the launch of Danantara marked a new era of transformation in strategic investments in the country.

"This is also part of the government's commitment to realizing Astacita, namely a grand vision to improve the Indonesian economy through sustainable and inclusive investment," he continued.

Earlier, Prabowo announced his plan to launch Danantara when speaking at the World Governments Summit on February 14, 2025, where he said he would inaugurate Danantara

Danantara is projected to become Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund by managing assets worth more than US$900 billion. At the initial funding, a budget of US$20 billion is prepared for the agency.

Prabowo said the funds managed by Danantara will be used to finance sustainable and high-impact projects in various sectors, such as renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, downstream industries, and food production.

When attending the Gerindra Party's event on February 15, 2025, he also asked former presidents and leaders of religious organizations to help oversee the management of Danantara funds.

"Danantara is the power of the future and we must protect it together. Therefore, I ask for all former Presidents' willingness to participate as supervisors in this fund. If necessary, leaders of religious organizations such as Muhammadiyah, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), and also Indonesian Bishops' Conference (KWI) can assist us in supervision," he remarked.

Brazil icon backs Ronaldo as best ever

Brazilian football legend Zico has backed Cristiano Ronaldo on his recent claim of being the greatest footballer ever.

Zico said the Portuguese star was right—not necessarily because of raw talent but because he was not born with the natural ability of other elite footballers.

Brazilian football legend Zico has backed Cristiano Ronaldo on his recent claim of being the greatest footballer ever.

Zico said the Portuguese star was right—not necessarily because of raw talent but because he was not born with the natural ability of other elite footballers.

According to him, Ronaldo had to work tirelessly to reach his current level, cementing his place as one of the greatest players of all time.

Ronaldo recently stated that no footballer, dead or alive, is better than him. He claimed to be the most complete player ever and the best the round-leather game has ever seen.

Undoubtedly, the 40-year-old Portugal international has established himself as one of football’s modern greats.

Despite his age, Ronaldo continues to thrive for Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr.

Speaking with his friend Edu Aguirre, Ronaldo rated himself above the likes of Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona, and Pelé.

In an interview reported by The NassrZone via Sportskeeda, Zico was asked whether Ronaldo’s statement reflected a lack of modesty.

“No, he absolutely should say that. People talk about him as if he’s just a goalscorer, but that’s not true, man. Cristiano is a great reference for any footballer because he wasn’t born with the talent of other players—he became the best through sheer dedication and effort.

“I hope he scores 2,000 goals or more. He rarely gets injured and never stops training. He has dedicated his life to football, and that deserves applause and respect,” he said.

Those close to the former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus star often highlight his exceptional work rate and discipline.

Ronaldo has already amassed 924 goals and 257 assists in 1,263 career appearances across all competitions.

Virgil van Dijk hints at Darwin Nunez anger after open net miss costs Liverpool

Virgil van Dijk seemed to show his frustration at Darwin Nunez after Liverpool failed to beat Aston Villa on Wednesday.

The Reds were held to a 2-2 draw at Villa Park, but they could've won the game had Nunez not missed an open goal from around 10 yards out after coming off the bench. The result leaves Liverpool eight points clear at the top of the Premier League standings, but Arsenal will cut that gap to five points if it beats West Ham at home on Saturday.

Liverpool skipper Van Dijk spoke to TNT Sports after Wednesday's game. He said: "A bit disappointed but we fight. We had chances to win the game, took a bit of a risk at the end so it got more open at times. We take a point and move on and focus on a big one at the weekend, again.

"In possession we did quite well, created good opportunities to score the second. Disappointing to concede from a set-piece. We tried everything and unfortunately it wasn't enough for three points."

Van Dijk then appeared to reference Nunez's miss by adding: "We should have scored 3-2, but credit to Aston Villa, they made it very difficult. We have a very tough one on the weekend again, then we play Newcastle, our focus now will be on Man City, a very difficult game, we know that. Do everything in your power to win games, the focus will be that on Sunday again."

The Reds took the lead on Wednesday through Mohamed Salah, but they found themselves 2-1 down at halftime thanks to goals from Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins. Trent Alexander-Arnold scored just after the hour mark before Nunez's remarkable miss.

Nunez, 25, has struggled to make an impression on Merseyside since his big-money switch from Benfica during the summer of 2022. He's scored just 24 Premier League goals to date and has a habit of missing big chances.

"Wow," former Leeds and Doncaster Rovers striker Lucy Ward said on commentary after Nunez missed his chance. "What a ball that is from Conor Bradley to (Dominik) Szoboszlai. Nunez has got to get that on target."

Villa striker Ollie Watkins also told TNT Sports at fulltime. He said: "It was a tough game. They are at the top of the league for a reason. We have a strong record here and always make it hard for teams. Even though we went behind we reacted well and could have nicked it at the end. Unai Emery is really demanding of us and we haven't been performing as well of late so he will be happy with that performance.

"It is nice playing with quality players and I am sure in the future games I will get more opportunities. They haven't had that long to show what they can do and they are still finding their feet. When they get a few games under their belt I am sure it will flow and connect together nicely. Any team we play, we want to win the game and we will focus on ourselves and see where we are come the end of the season."

Liverpool's next game will be an even bigger challenge, with a trip to Manchester City looming. Pep Guardiola's players were dumped out of the Champions League on Wednesday after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid in Spain, as Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick.

Ruben Amorim told Man Utd star is 'not at the level' after Tottenham defeat

Ruben Amorim has been told one of his players is not ‘Manchester United quality’ after the deflating Premier League defeat to Tottenham.

United’s dismal run under Amorim continued on Sunday as they lost 1-0 to struggling Spurs.

James Maddison’s first-half goal was enough to separate the sides and condemn Manchester United to a 12th league defeat this season.

United also dropped one place to 15th in the Premier League table, behind an Everton side who were in a relegation scrap and sacked Sean Dyche just a few weeks ago.

Ex-Premier League striker Clinton Morrison was underwhelmed by United’s performances in north London and said £36.5m signing Joshua Zirkzee was not at the level to play for the Red Devils.

Zirkzee started for depleted Manchester United but struggled to make an impact, missing a huge chance when he headed wide late on.

‘I’m not being disrespectful, but some of these players who put on a United shirt are not of Manchester United quality,’ Morrison told BBC Radio 5 Live. ‘It’s so poor from Joshua Zirkzee.

‘Biggest thing you take is the three points and the clean sheet. Man United will be disappointed. Alejandro Garnacho was the most lively, but it’s a big three points for Ange.

‘Ruben Amorim has a lot of injuries, but he can’t wait to get to the summer. Sell some players and bring in his own players.

‘United fans need to suffer before it gets good because who can make a big difference?

‘There’s not many I can pick out. The players who come in for Ange Postecoglou made them a better team.

‘Be careful what you wish for. Manchester United fans complained about Scott McTominay and many would take him back in their team.’

Meanwhile, Jamie Redknapp said it was going to take ‘a lot of time and patience’ for Manchester United to turn things around after their latest humbling defeat.

‘They are so short of top players, it is going to need a lot of time and patience – the problem is, when you are a club of the enormity of Man Utd, you don’t want to hear that,’ the ex-Tottenham and England midfielder told Sky Sports.

‘It’s very difficult to watch if you are a Manchester United fan.’

Amorim was disappointed his United side drew a blank at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium despite creating a number of chances, including two from Alejandro Garnacho.

‘It was the difference of the game, they scored and we didn’t,’ he said. ‘We had the opportunities.

‘We had situations in transitions, trying to get a result, but in the end they scored and we didn’t.

‘We want to recover the players, I think we can recover some players for the next game. We have to be together to finish the season and start over.’

Jamie Carragher sums up Liverpool's Mohamed Salah problem perfectly with Lionel Messi comparison

Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool may be over-reliant on Mohamed Salah this season, having compared the Reds’ talisman to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Salah has been in sensational form for Liverpool this season, having scored 28 goals and added 19 assists in just 36 games across all competitions ahead of the clash with Wolves on Sunday. His remarkable form has put the Reds on course for the Premier League title, having built a seven-point lead over Arsenal before the weekend, while they are also in contention for the Carabao Cup and Champions League.

The Egyptian has also been talked about as a contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or, which may well depend on whether Liverpool wins some silverware. His form though has led some to suggest Arne Slot’s side has become too reliant on him.

Salah is by far and away the Reds’ biggest supply of goals this season, with Cody Gakpo his nearest challenger with 16 goals and five assists across all competitions. With the 32-year-old’s future still up in the air as his contract nears its expiration, it does leave Liverpool with a concern for the future.

“I suppose it is an over-reliance when someone's having such a good season, that's always going to be the case,” Carragher told Sky Sports ahead of the clash against Wolves.

“He's having one of those seasons where you’d see five or ten years ago, Messi and Ronaldo at Barca and Real Madrid, they were probably over-reliant on those players. You're always going to be with someone who's in such a rich vein of form.”

Liverpool.com says: There’s nothing wrong with having one player who supplies the majority of your goals, as Carragher points out with the Messi and Ronaldo comparisons. The problem comes if Salah decides he wants to leave in the summer, leaving a massive gap in the squad.

You’d hope that without Salah, Liverpool would be able to find plenty of goals regardless, but there’s no doubt the Reds do rely on him. We perhaps won’t know just how heavily until he departs, which hopefully won’t be this summer.

The sessions addressed several interconnected themes. These included the importance of international cooperation for achieving sustainable development goals, and the necessity of partnerships between government entities, private institutions, and international organisations. The focus was on innovative models that can help realise global aspirations and develop solutions to various challenges worldwide.

Six sessions, comprising three panel discussions and three round tables, featured prominent speakers including government ministers, CEOs, and global experts representing international agencies worldwide. These speakers highlighted effective global initiatives and development programmes that have positively impacted millions of lives.

The speakers argued that such initiatives aim to build a better future and bring about significant transformations in communities, education, healthcare and economies, resulting in sustained growth, prosperity and stability. The sessions also stressed the importance of innovating global models to shape a better future that empowers the people, drives progress across all aspects of life, and establishes principles of international cooperation.

Speakers stressed the urgent need for innovative solutions to societal challenges, advocating for strengthened international development initiatives that leverage the combined capacities of government agencies, private institutions, and international organisations across key humanitarian and developmental areas.

The UAE, uniquely positioned, has emerged as a global hub for philanthropic and humanitarian action. Through its ability to convene diverse stakeholders, foster collaboration, and support a thriving ecosystem for philanthropy, the UAE is playing a vital role in amplifying impact and driving systemic progress for future generations.’

Alan Shearer makes Carabao Cup final stance clear as Liverpool faces Newcastle test

Alan Shearer has made it clear that he'll be at the Carabao Cup final not as a pundit, but as a fan. Despite receiving several offers to cover the game, he's already declined them.

Eddie Howe's Newcastle secured a spot at Wembley with a resounding 4-0 aggregate victory over Arsenal and will now face Liverpool at Wembley. The Reds are aiming to hold onto the trophy they won last season under Jurgen Klopp, while the Magpies hope to break their long-standing silverware drought.

Fans are eagerly awaiting details on ticket allocations, with around 33,000 expected to be available for both sets of supporters.

On the Rest is Football podcast, when Micah Richards queried whether he'd attend the match, Shearer confirmed enthusiastically: "I'll be going to the final, I've had to politely decline two or three requests to work on the final. I'm going as a fan. I can't not be at Wembley and I know it's an if, if Newcastle win a cup! First domestic one in 70 years, if we win it have to be a fan. I've got to be there as a fan. I'm not working."

When Gary Lineker asked if he could join him, Shearer warmly invited his co-podcasters: "More than welcome. I'll get you tickets if you want to come."

Lineker, anticipating high demand, remarked, "Get my request in early because they're going to be much sought after I sense up in Geordie land,".

"They will," replied the Newcastle icon confidently. "There'll be thousands of them. I've already had about four texts saying can you get me tickets please? I honestly have a text off someone, I don't even know the number, asking if I can get him three tickets."

Despite a number of teams coming close to pulling off big upsets, there were no absolute shock results on Saturday.

Ministry to summon firms linked to Ciawi fatal toll collision

The Ministry of Transportation plans to summon representatives from a mineral water company and transport operator linked to the truck that rammed five vehicles at the Ciawi Toll gate, Bogor, West Java, on Tuesday night.

"As a follow-up measure, we will summon all leaders of the relevant drinking water company and freight transport operator," acting director general of the ministry's Land Transportation Directorate General, Ahmad Yani, stated in Jakarta on Wednesday.

However, he did not specify when the summons would take place after the collision that killed eight and injured 11 others at around 11:30 p.m. last night.

Yani then emphasized that his team had been coordinating with local police to gather information and understand the sequence of events surrounding the accident to determine necessary steps to avert similar incidents in the future.

Furthermore, he noted that the ministry would conduct a safety inspection and disseminate safety guidelines to all companies engaged in transporting drinking water on routes connecting Sukabumi, West Java, to Jakarta.

"We will also continue to enhance drivers' capacity through educational and training activities, guiding them to acquire adequate knowledge about proper driving techniques and pre-trip brake checks," he added.

He then urged all freight transport operators and related companies to verify the conditions of their drivers and vehicles before permitting them to operate.

Data from Mitra Darat indicates that the truck involved in the collision, bearing license plate B 9235 PYW, had a routine inspection certificate, valid until May 11 this year.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Traffic Police Corps (Korlantas) has deployed a traffic accident analysis (TAA) team to the scene of the deadly crash at the gate of the Ciawi Toll Road.

When contacted by ANTARA here on Wednesday, Law Enforcement Director of the Korlantas Brigadier Gen. Raden Slamet noted that the team comprises 10 traffic police personnel from the National Police (Polri) and the West Java Regional Police.

Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono met with Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Boroujerdi to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in strategic fields, particularly in supporting national food and energy security, trade, and investment.

While receiving a courtesy call from Ambassador Boroujerdi in Jakarta on Monday (Feb 3), FM Sugiono discussed the potential for cooperation in energy security, including investment in renewable energy.

Sugiono expressed Indonesia’s interest in leveraging Iran’s expertise in nanotechnology and biotechnology to develop agricultural technology that can support national food security.

The discussions also included opportunities for educational cooperation for Indonesian health workers to pursue studies in health technology in Iran.

Indonesia and Iran have established quite advanced cooperation in the health sector, including through the construction of the Robotic Telesurgery Center and advancements in telemedicine across various regions in the country.

Regarding increasing tourism cooperation, Sugiono and Boroujerdi also deliberated on opening direct flight routes connecting the two countries.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Iran.

Minister Sugiono and Ambassador Boroujerdi acknowledged numerous accomplishments in their bilateral relations and expressed hope for continued progress under the administrations of Indonesian President Prabowo and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The Indonesian and Iranian governments share aligned views on the Palestinian issue, advocating for full independence and liberation of Palestine.

Sugiono and Boroujerdi also emphasized the importance of unity among Islamic countries in supporting Palestinian independence.

TNI to continue cyber defense training for soldiers

Head of the Indonesian Military (TNI) Information Center, Major General Hariyanto, stated that his side will persist in training its soldiers in cyber defense while also planning to recruit cyber experts to strengthen the military.

"The TNI is dedicated to developing and enhancing the skills of its soldiers in the cyber field through education, training, and special assignments," Hariyanto explained here on Monday.

Hariyanto noted that technological advancements, especially in the military sector, necessitate that the TNI remains up-to-date.

According to the major general, this is crucial as modern warfare increasingly occurs in the cyber realm rather than on physical battlefields.

To bolster the TNI's capabilities in cyber defense, his team is exploring collaboration with civilian experts in technology to strengthen the country's cyber defense.

"Recruiting civilians as cyber specialists is a strategic move to enhance our national cyber defense with individuals who possess expertise in information technology, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence," Hariyanto remarked.

He affirmed that plans for civilian recruitment into cyber units at all levels will be finalized shortly, and cyber skill training for soldiers will also be intensified.

However, Hariyanto did not provide specifics when asked about the number of cyber personnel needed by the TNI and the recruitment process.

In September 2024, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto disclosed that he received an order from former president Joko Widodo to establish a cyber military force as the TNI's fourth branch.

His side has so far planned to establish a cyber military center at the TNI headquarters and within each military branch. Subiyanto indicated that high school and university graduates will be recruited to be the personnel in the cyber centers.

Mandalika Circuit to host four global races in 2025

The Mandalika International Street Circuit in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), is set to host four international racing championships in 2025.

Director of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), Priandhi Satria, said the planned events include MotoGP, the Asia Road Racing Championship, the GT World Series Asia, and the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

During a focus group discussion in Mataram City, NTB, on Sunday, he noted that the circuit is also set to host domestic races and various non-racing events this year.

He highlighted that the MGPA requires support from the provincial and district governments as well as the private sector to facilitate people's access to the planned events, promote them, and make them a success.

"Such support is necessary to enhance the quality of our events and ensure their continuation," he added.

Satria pointed out that in 2024, the MGPA organized a range of events for a total of 268 days at the international circuit, with the visitor count reaching 170,000, around 120,000 of whom were MotoGP spectators.

"At MGPA, we continuously review and refine event concepts," he stated.

He then expressed optimism that the circuit's national and international exposure would help Lombok Island and NTB Province further polish Indonesia's tourism appeal, promoting it to a broader population globally.

"Visitors will naturally spread the word about Mandalika, Lombok, NTB, and Indonesia, helping to introduce them to a global audience. We can expect this tendency to lead to a rise in the number of domestic and foreign tourists to NTB," he remarked.

Furthermore, he asserted that the MGPA remains steadfast in its commitment to contributing to the development of Indonesia's tourism sector by managing the Mandalika Circuit.

"The MGPA does not own the Mandalika Circuit, as this motorsport venue belongs to Indonesia. We must continue promoting the circuit for the benefit of the country," he concluded.

Liverpool offered new Trent Alexander-Arnold injury verdict as Arne Slot left waiting

An injury expert has projected how long Trent Alexander-Arnold could be sidelined for after he picked up an injury during Liverpool's 2-0 win against Bournemouth.

The Reds' number 66 limped off in the second half and had to be replaced by Conor Bradley just minutes before Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool's second goal to secure a nine-point advantage at the top of the Premier League table.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Arne Slot said the club face an anxious wait to discover the extent of the England international's injury after the right-back asked the head coach to be taken off.

Physio Scout, a football injury analyst verified on X, has provided their expert analysis of Alexander-Arnold's recent injury. Known for offering insights from a sports science perspective, the assessment has added to the growing concern around the Liverpool defender's fitness.

They claim that Alexander-Arnold suffered a quad injury but indicated that it might not be a serious one with Slot saying that he "felt something".

They went on to add that it was suggested unlikely a cork/contusion with that description, initially diagnosing it as either a quad strain or just general tightness.

If it is quad tightness, they estimate the potential recovery time could be less than a week, while if it is a strain the right-back could potentially face two to six weeks out.

It is important to note that there’s nothing official from the club yet on the injury or on how long he could be out for. However the account estimated that "it's probably more likely just quad tightness. Even if it is just discomfort, he'll be racing the clock to make Liverpool's clash vs. Spurs."

However if it is a strain, Slot will be faced with a new worry if Alexander-Arnold is unavailable for a number of fixtures which not only includes the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final but also the rescheduled Merseyside Derby and a trip to the Etihad to face Manchester City.

Carlo Ancelotti lets rip at referee after Real Madrid controversy - 'Inexplicable'

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was left fuming with the decision to leave Carlos Romero on the field to score Espanyol's winner against his team on Saturday.

Madrid had a chance to extend their lead at the top of La Liga with three points in Catalunya. Espanyol went into the game sat inside the bottom three, but pulled off a stunning late win.

The issue, according to Ancelotti at least, concerned a foul committed by Romero earlier in the second half. The left-back jumped into a challenge with Kylian Mbappe, getting nowhere near the forward, but escaped with a booking.

Five minutes from time, the left-back made an even more vital contribution. Espanyol broke at pace, with Omar El Hilali swinging the ball to the back post where his fellow full-back was on hand to fire through Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois.

After the game, Ancelotti made it very clear how he felt. “The decision that has been taken is inexplicable, by both the referee and VAR. Because we have all seen what has happened," the Italian said (via Football Espana).

"The most important thing is to watch and protect the player. It was a clear foul, a very ugly tackle, with risk and, fortunately it didn’t happen, but there was a risk of injury. VAR is also there for this. It seems inexplicable to us that red was not shown.”

The defeat was Madrid's first in the league since December 4, when they were beaten by Athletic Bilbao. They remain a point clear of neighbours Atletico, but Diego Simeone's side will go top if they win next week's Madrid derby.

Madrid also suffered an injury scare against Espanyol, with Toni Rudiger forced off just 15 minutes into the game. The German international was replaced by youngster Raul Asencio, and Ancelotti will have to play the waiting game.

"He's had a muscle injury, they'll have to assess it," Ancelotti said of Rudiger. "We know what we have to do, we've thought about it and we've talked about it."

Madrid have a tough run of fixtures up ahead, taking on Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League play-off just three days after the Atleti clash. Asencio might be required to start, or else Madrid might bring David Alaba into the fold after his recent return from a long injury lay-off.

Alaba missed the first half of the season as he recovered from an ACL tear, making a handful of appearances from the bench. He hasn't started a match since December 2023, though, and Ancelotti will have a big decision to make on the Austria international.

Brighton ‘formally reject’ shock £54m bid for ex-Man Utd target with ‘final offer worth £90m’ coming

Brighton are ‘reluctant to sell’ Kaoru Mitoma despite expecting a monstrous £90million bid from Saudi Arabia, according to reports.

Mitoma joined the Seagulls from Japanese outfit Kawasaki Frontale in the 2021 summer transfer window and was instantly loaned out to Union Saint-Gilloise for the season.

The Japanese winger enjoyed a breakout season in 2022/23, establishing himself as one of the best dribblers in the Premier League.

He was linked with moves to Chelsea and Manchester United but a transfer never came close to materialising, though his Brighton departure could come soon.

That is because there is strong interest from the Saudi Pro League, according to transfer expert David Ornstein.

Writing for The Athletic, Ornstein reports that Brighton have received a €65million (£54.4million) offer from Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr, who are also closing in on the signing of Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran.

With days left of the January transfer window, Fabian Hurzeler’s side have ‘formally rejected’ the offer.

It is claimed that Al Nassr have made Mitoma their ‘top target’ for the wing following the agreement to sign Villa striker Duran.

Mitoma is under contract until 2027 so Albion do not need to sell but might receive a second offer that is too good to turn down.

According to James Benge, Al Nassr will come back with a ‘second and final offer worth up to £90million’ for Mitoma, who Brighton are ‘reluctant to sell’.

Brighton have established a reputation as one of the best clubs in Europe when it comes to buying and selling players.

Rejecting £90m for Mitoma, who is 28 in May, would be an absolutely ludicrous decision, even if the transfer window closes on Monday.

The Japanese international has played in all 23 Premier League games for the Seagulls this season, scoring five goals and making three assists.

Manchester City wonderkid to have contract 'torn up': report

Manchester City have been active in the January transfer window, with four new players all joining the club as Pep Guardiola looks to turn around the club's season.

Omar Marmoush is arguably the only established signing, with the other three all under the age of 21 as Manchester City also start to plan for the future.

Another of the club's wonderkids isn't enjoying such optimism, though, with his contract set to be terminated.

Manchester City loanee Kayky to have Sparta Rotterdam contract 'torn up'

According to Dutch outlet Voetbal International, Brazilian forward Kayky, who is currently on loan at Sparta Rotterdam from Manchester City, is set to have his contract with the Eredivisie side "torn up".

Kayky moved to Manchester City from Fluminense in January 2022 for €10m, and went onto make three appearances in the first team under Pep Guardiola during the remainder of the 2021/22 season while still only 18. He has since had three loan spells, at Pacos de Ferreira in Portugal, Brazilian side Bahia and now Sparta Rotterdam.

After signing for Sparta on a season-long loan at the beginning of 2024/25, injury prevented Kayky from immediately getting up to speed with Sparta Rotterdam. Kayky suffered a serious knee injury while playing for Bahia in July 2023, and returned to parent club Manchester City for rehabilitation.

He eventually made his debut for Sparta Rotterdam in October, with the Dutch side willing to wait for a player with obvious quality get back to full fitness. The 21-year-old, though, has managed just 155 minutes of action in all competitions since, with fitness issues limiting his game time.

Sparta Rotterdam have understandably grown tired with Kayky's lack of availability as a result, and are close to terminating his loan deal early. They've agreed to sign Ajax winger Kristian Hlynsson to replace Kayky, too, who is now no longer part of the club's plans for the rest of the season.

In FourFourTwo's view it's understandable for a club to terminate a loan spell that clearly hasn't worked out, though it's certainly a shame for Kayky. Returning to City and getting back to full fitness before testing himself somewhere else in 2025/26 might actually help his career in the long term, however.
